Karter Thistlethwaite

Karter was diagnosed at 20 weeks gestation with stage 3 Complete Heart block.

He was born by c-section at 36 weeks and rushed to ICU for further tests, it was a miracle he had made it even that far.
At only 8 days old he underwent his first open heart surgery and had a pacemaker implanted, as his HR was unbelievably low.

At just 6 months Karter was also diagnosed with Dilated Cardiomyopathy, and was immediately rushed to another open heart surgery, this time by emergency, it was a miracle Karter was still alive at this point. His team replaced his pacemaker with another device called a Bi-ventricular pacemaker. We all had hoped that this and all his new found heart medications would help him along his way. We were all proven wrong, by 8 months Karter was listed for transplant and was now dependant on an IV heart function med round the clock alongside his other numerous meds. Karter is now back at home, 18 mos old and still patiently waiting for his perfect heart to find him.
